Richie McDonald Releases His Debut Contemorary Christian Project

One of Country music’s premiere vocalists and respected songwriters, Richie McDonald, will release his debut Contemporary Christian project, I Turn To You, on June 3, 2008. The CD was produced by McDonald’s long-time friend, Frank Myers, and McDonald co-wrote all but two songs on the album. The project will be distributed by Lucid Artist and will be available at retail outlets nationwide including Family Christian stores and Walmart. “I’ve always wanted to do this kind of album. I just thought it was time,” says McDonald. “I just feel like I’m doing music that really makes a difference. I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing now and it feels right in my heart.”“I am extremely honored to partner with Richie and help him connect with retailers & the Christian community nationwide,” says Greg Lucid, President, Lucid Artist. “It has been a long time since the Christian music community rallied behind, supported and effectively launched a new artist. I feel confident Richie has both the talent and message and it’s resonating with retailers like Walmart and Family Christian stores. I know that when people hear the lyrics and meet Richie that they will instantly see why he is so special.” I Turn To You is a compelling project with songs that give hope, encourage faith, and give glory to our wonderful God. The title song is the first single that will be going for adds at radio on March 14th. Other songs include, “He’s Alive,” that makes a powerful Easter message with the confirmation that Christ is alive and active in our lives, “Handle With Prayer” is a testimony about the power of prayer and the results it has on our lives, and “What Would He Do,” which is about living a life faithful to Jesus’ teachings. “Hey God” will be familiar to McDonald’s fans as it’s an acoustic version of the Lonestar hit that he wrote for the band.McDonald is the former vocalist for Country’s supergroup, Lonestar, and surprised the music row community by leaving the band after 16 years to pursue a solo career. McDonald wrote three #1 songs for Lonestar, “My Front Porch,” “Mr. Mom,” and “I’m Already There,” and was honored by BMI as Songwriter Of The Year in 2003. McDonald’s music is now on mainstream rock stations as the best-selling English group, Westlife, has done a cover version of “I’m Already There,” which was co-written by McDonald, Frank Myers, and Gary Baker.

Carl Bell of FUEL

Sometimes it's easier to let others speak for us. I wanted to share an e-mail I received from Carl, below.

Yo, I played the guitar last night at a SuperBowl gig. It was the first time I played it live where I had other guitars to compare it with. I had a Takamine and a Taylor that I was going to use for alternate tunings, but the CA blew them both away in tone and playablity. I was really impressed all over again. Really loving this guitar. I love the neck, the feel, the tone, not to mention the durability and resistance to humidity. It was such a blow out that I had to use the guitar the entire night, meaning I had to tune on stage for the different tunings. Just couldn't use the other guitars after using the CA. The mix on stage and at FOH was so off when trying to switch that I had to stick with the CA . I'd love to try the X or the GX again. Loving what you guys are doing. Let's talk soon, Carl.

Bryan Austin with Clint Black

Bryan Austin is a product of his environment. Born and bred on the influences of a pure Mississippi music, it seems that he came into this world playing his own tune. The southern lullabies of his childhood were good to Bryan, preparing him for the life that was to come. Growing up as an affluent saxophone and guitar player, he soon found his voice as well-in the Mississippi Honky Tonks. In an industry that talks "the power of paying your dues", Bryan has done just that and more. He honed his skills in high school playing music five nights a week, to help support his siblings. In fact, it was while playing in a home town night club, that Bryan had a chance meeting with a Nashville Manager. Shortly after, Nashville came calling and a recording contract with hCapitol Records followed. Industry mainstay Keith Stegall produced Bryan's album, released in 1994. Also a talented songwriter, Bryan had the opportunity to write for his album, with songwriting greats such has Kim Williams and Neil Thrasher. The album produced two charted singles and videos, "RadioActive" and "Is It Just Me".

Bryan has had the pleasure of appearing on tour with the likes of musical greats such as, John Anderson, Patty Loveless, The Mavericks and Steve Wariner, just to name a few. As a career highlight, in 1997 Bryan was nominated for a Grammy Award, for his guitar work on "The Brickyard Boogie", recorded with Steve Wariner- for his critically acclaimed instrumental record entitled "no More Mr. Nice Guy". They lost the Grammy that year, to Chet Atkins, but in hearing Bryan tell the story, he wouldn't have had it any other way. "Just having your name appear in the same vicinity as Chet Atkins, is enough"! It was also Bryans friendship with Steve Wariner, that led to meeting Clint and his band, Bryan has experienced quite a ride. Recording on Clint's albums, new songs, new tours, new places all the time, but the one constant is the endless talent that makes up the band that he gets to share the stage with every night. "It's a blessing to really enjoy going to work everyday and I think there is a peace in knowing that you get to bring little light into other peoples lives with what you do, even if it's just for an hour a night. It's what we are all really put here for."
Be sure to check Bryan playing his CA guitars on the road this year with Clint Black.

Fuel has nothing to prove. The band has sold over 3.5 million albums in the U.S. and scored a trio of top 5 singles, "Shimmer," "Innocent" and "Hemorrhage (In My Hands"), the latter of which remained at #1 for 12 weeks. In addition, Fuel have sold out tours all over the world, headlining venues and opening for bands including Aerosmith, Kid Rock, Creed and 3 Doors Down. Fuel are primed to pick up where they left off with their latest release, Angels And Devils, with new band members in tow to help add to an already formidable list of achievements.
Since they burst onto the scene with their 1998 full-length debut Sunburn, Fuel has been a staple on rock radio regardless of the ebb and flow of ephemeral musical trends. After the massive success of "Shimmer," Fuel released 2000's Something Like Human, which featured the hit singles "Innocent" and "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" and achieved double platinum status. After 3 years filled with touring, Fuel released 2003's Natural Selection, which featured the hit "Falls On Me." The steady schedule of hit songs and sold out tours was interrupted in 2004 when the band and singer Brett Scallions decided to amicably part ways.
For rock bands, lineup changes can be healthy, providing new options, renewed enthusiasm and a new aesthetic. But even in the best circumstances, they can also be difficult, resulting in growing pains and frequently, a learning curve that must be navigated to continue to move forward. "There's been a lot of turmoil within the band over the past few years and a lot of that is reflected in these songs," says guitarist and chief songwriter Carl Bell. "When change happens it brings out the best and the worst in people, and I'd like to think that for us it was mostly the best." Angels and Devils, Fuels first new disc since 2003's Natural Selection, isn't a comeback, it's an ambitious step forward -- one that taps into a spectrum of experiences to deliver heartfelt songs that range from slow and pensive to energized and euphoric. It is the first Fuel album to feature new singer, Toryn Green. After the band made the decision to part with Brett they auditioned local singers a friend recommended, but none worked out. So, they conducted an Internet search, posting an instrumental version of their hit "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" and asking performers to email the file back with their vocals on it. Unsurprisingly, Fuel received thousands of responses, including one from Green, who went beyond the call of duty.
"I sent in my version of 'Hemorrhage' like everyone else, but after 24 hours, I didn't feel like that was enough to make me stand out," Green says. "So, I went and made a medley of 'Bad Day' and 'Innocent' and sent that in as well.' Impressed by the effort to which Green had gone and floored by his multi-octave voice, Fuel brought him in for an audition. As soon as he stepped up to the microphone, it became clear that he would be the man to beat for the position. And no one else even came close. "He knew all the songs, he was a fan of the band and he had a great voice. So going in, were really hopeful," says Bell. "And then when he walked in the room and we saw him, he was everything we were looking for. He can sing the old songs with little effort and his range is really broad so we can do more with our music now than ever." Green, however, isn't the only new member in Fuel. Fuel have also enlisted ex-Godsmack drummer Tommy Stewart, who had previously filled in for a handful of live shows after former drummer Kevin Miller left. "I love these guys," says Stewart. "We came up together. Their first album was out around the same time as the first Godsmack record. They're great guys and they make it fun and I've always enjoyed their music." While Stewart is currently part of the Fuel lineup, he had other commitments when they were recording Angels and Devils, so the band recruited studio musician Josh Freese, who has also played for Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle and others.
Fuel entered the studio with producer Scott Humphrey (Tommy Lee, Rob Zombie) to start working on Angels and Devils in August 2006. Since they were playing material Bell had been fine-tuning for two years, the songs were all in good shape, and there were over 30 to choose from. And even though Fuel was working with Green, Freese and Humphrey for the first time, the sessions were unbelievably smooth and productive, with Green's unbridled enthusiasm leading the way. "I was so excited to be in there with them because this is something I've wanted to do my entire life," Green says. "So, having the opportunity to get in there and work with these guys who are pros and have done such great records -- I couldn't have asked for a better experience. They pushed me, but that's where I feel the most comfortable. I wanted to take myself to the limits because a lot of the times I didn't know what those limits were."
"Toryn picked up the vibe of what we were doing so quickly," Bell says. "After just a few practices it was like he's always been with us. And it was great to work with Scott Humphrey because he and I saw eye to eye on a lot of stuff and he's got one of the coolest studio set ups I've ever seen." Bell named the new album Angels and Devils to reflect the dichotomy he's experienced over the past several years. Aside from the turbulence caused by the departures of Miller and Scallions, he has faced numerous conflicts in his own life, and instead of internalizing his issues, he has dealt with them in his music more candidly than ever. "For me, the idea of Angels and Devils translates into the way you feel about people and the way they think about you," he explains. "You try to do all the right things and still people have different perceptions of what you even hoped. And the whole duality of 'did I do the right thing here?' and 'why did this happen?' and 'why did people decide that this is supposed to go down this way?' is something I think about a lot. So there's a lot of questioning on this record."Nowhere is this more delineated than on the song "Wasted Time." The song starts with acoustic guitars, evocative strings and weary vocals before blossoming into a beautifully melancholy song driven by strong hooks and an undeniable chorus. "I don't have the most optimistic view of relationships," Bell admits. "On a planetary scale, divorce rates are the highest they've ever been, and it just seems inevitable, almost. Maybe men and women aren't supposed to live together, I don't know?"
The track "Gone" further illustrates Bell's experiences with a story about escape from codependence. "Everybody's had that moment where you're with your boyfriend or girlfriend and you're going along, and then you just realize that this is wrong and it's bringing out the worst in me and this is not working and I don't even like this person anymore," he explains. "Then you look back at it and go, why was I even there? Why did I torture myself in that situation?" "Gone" bobs like a buoy and grooves like a go-go dancer as it builds and dips from one unforgettable vocal line to the next. More than anything, Angels and Devils is a bold, inviting new voice from a band that had to be quiet for too long. While some bands in similar situations lose their footing, Fuel has jumped back onto the racetrack with feet flying and hearts pumping pure adrenaline. "We're so happy to able to get back to doing what we love to do," Abercrombie says. "In some ways, it really does feel like a rebirth. Carl and I have been the core of the band since day one, but we have a new front man and it's a new beginning for us and we couldn't be more excited."

Michele Mercure

I wanted to share with all of you some photos and testimony from Michele Mercure herself on our guitars. The e-mail from her is below after playing our guitar on her new project.

Be sure to check out her webpages, www.thisgirlsmusic.com & www.myspace.com/michelemercure to read and hear more from Michele.

Thank you so much for letting me borrow this Composite Acoustic guitar. I am so impressed. I’d heard about these guitars that were made of something other than wood and sort of just wrote them off because of my assumption that they wouldn’t sound natural. Well, I was really wrong about that. This guitar sounds stunning to me. It’s tone is rich and full and I’m sure that there’s no one on the planet that can tell that this guitar isn’t made out of wood. As you know, my style of guitar playing presents certain challenges for guitars. I use a lot of extreme tunings and I play completely up and down the neck and sometimes I use a capo. This presents real problems for me with tuning and intonation issues particularly as I play towards the body of the guitar. With the Composite Acoustic guitar I don’t have these problems. It’s just always in tune. At every fret. Some of the tunings I’ve tested it with are. DADGAD, AADGBE,(low A is really low!) GGCGGC, and of course standard. I've been using this guitar for recording as well. As you know, the score for our Feature film HOME is primarily acoustic guitar with piano and some strings. I’ve been using the pickup directly from the guitar for recording. I’m going into your Universal Audio pre amp and I’m sure that makes a difference but it really sounds awesome. No mic required. So I can just sit in front of my pro tools rig and record away. It’s very freeing. I should also mention that I love the way this guitar feels when I hold it. It’s not heavy or awkward. It feels perfectly balanced. The neck feels just the right size for my hand. and also....it looks sexy as hell! I’m not sure what it is about this guitar but I truly feel inspired when I play it. And I think I really do play better when I play this guitar. Maybe you will let me have some kind of visitation rights because I’m going to feel truly sad when I have to give this guitar back to you. So, Thanks Bruce. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. If your company has a logo we would be happy to put it at the end of the film with the other important logos we will be showing. Just let me know and send a jpeg to me if you have one.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
